What is Beyond Rehab?

Beyond Rehab is our way of working with people properly. Rather than one-off appointments, we work with a small number of athletes over a few months, taking them from the injury they're dealing with now, to being pain free, and back to training and performing with confidence.

For us, rehab doesn't end when the pain settles. That's often where the most important work begins.

Who is it for?

Beyond Rehab is for athletes and active people who are tired of managing injuries instead of getting on top of them for good. Whether you're coming back from surgery, dealing with a recurring injury that never fully settles, or you've been through rehab before and still aren't where you want to be, this is about bridging the gap between just being pain free and actually performing again.

You're coming back from surgery. Knee, hip, groin, shoulder or ankle surgery, or any other lower or upper limb procedure. Being medically cleared and actually trusting your body again are two very different things.

You're stuck in a cycle of recurring injuries. Hamstring strains, hip or groin pain, Achilles trouble, patellar tendon pain, recurring ankle sprains, calf injuries, shoulder pain, whatever keeps coming back.

You're back playing, but you don't fully trust your body. Something still doesn't feel right. You're half-thinking about the injury, hesitant when you sprint, change direction, jump or kick, or just waiting for it to go again.

You've tried rehab before, but you're still not where you want to be. You've seen a physio, done the programmes, been told you're good to go. But you're still not moving or performing the way you know you can.

We work with athletes across a wide range of sports, Gaelic football, hurling, rugby, soccer, athletics, running, triathlon, CrossFit and gym-based athletes. Whatever your goal, the process is the same: building a body that can perform, not just one that's free from pain.

How it works

Here's what working with us actually looks like, start to finish.

It starts with a proper assessment. For hybrid clients that's in person, hands-on, with objective testing. For online clients it's done remotely, over a video call and through videos you send in, so we can see how you move and where the issue really is. Either way, the aim is to get to the root of it, not just the symptom.

We build a programme around you. Everything is delivered through TeamBuildr, the app you'll have on your phone, so you always know exactly what to do and why. Nothing off a template, it's built for your injury, your sport and where you're starting from.

We stay with you the whole way. Scheduled check-ins at each stage, video feedback on your technique, and support between sessions within set hours, so you're never left guessing.

Progress is measured, not guessed. We track it with objective measurements, VALD testing in the clinic for hybrid clients, or simple at-home measures for online, so you can actually see it improving. And you only move to the next stage when your response and your numbers say you're ready, not because a certain number of weeks have passed.

The aim is to work ourselves out of a job. We want you to understand your own body, build real confidence in it, and finish more robust than you started, so you don't keep ending up back here.

Two ways to work with us

Online — fully remote. A remote assessment, your programme built and managed through TeamBuildr, scheduled check-ins, video feedback, and support within set hours, with progress tracked through simple at-home measures. For athletes who aren't local, or who are happy to train on their own with expert guidance behind them.

Hybrid — everything in the online option, plus in-person sessions and objective VALD testing in the clinic. Hands-on work where it helps, retesting at the key stages, and priority access. For local athletes who want the in-person side and the testing that takes the guesswork out.

Behind Beyond Rehab

Beyond Rehab is built on chartered physiotherapy and strength and conditioning experience at the top end of sport, including Derry GAA and Ulster Rugby. We use the same objective testing relied on in elite sport, VALD's NordBord, ForceFrame and force plates, to measure strength, imbalances and force output, so your rehab is guided by real data, not guesswork.
